A Collection Of Traditional Dresses
Since the Qing Dynasty, the oriental look of the "cheongsam" has not lost its vogue; proving itself to be a formidable force in perpetuum. It made its first humble appearance as a sort of adaptation from a single-piece Manchurian dress and became incredibly popular in Shanghai - the city known as the Paris of The East.
Today, the cheongsam remains a staple in the wardrobes of Chinese families however it has since found its way into the West. These dresses shown in the pictures were owned by Madam Ko Wye Fong.
