This photograph shows the people of Sungai Nipah New Village in Perak, receving their meal from the communal kitchen during the Emergency. (Sungai Nipah New Village is believed to be the present Kampung Baru Sungai Nipah Baroh in Bagan Datoh). This was part of the 'Briggs Plan' strategy to cut off food supplies to the Communists previously supplied by the smallholders and plantation workers.
