Towkay Lau Ek Ching
Lau Ek Ching was one of the Chinese elite in Ipoh during the pre war era. He was a landed proprietor, miner and owner of the Ruby Theatre building, custom-built by him to be leased to the very experienced cinema manager, Ong Ee Lim. He also built a street of Town Houses in Ipoh New Town which is named after him. English educated and a Christian he was buried in the Methodist cemetery in Lahat Road.
