Haji Abdul Wahab bin Toh Muda Abdul Aziz (Datoh Panglima Bukit Gantang), born May 4, 1905, Sayong, Kuala Kangsar, Perak. Education : Anderson School, Ipoh and Inner Temple, England. Bar-at-law Called to Bar Inner Temple (1930), Career : Practised as Barrister in Ipoh 1931/47; appointed first Mentri Besar, Perak 1948. Resigned as Mentri Besar in August, 1957. Public activity member Perak State Council, 1936/41; Perak Executive Council 1948/55; Federal Legislative Council, 1948; General Council of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association 1952/55; elected president Rotary Club, Ipoh 1957, President Perak Malay League, first organised Malay political party in Malaya, former Secretary General UMNO and took a leading part in general Malay agitation against the Malayan Union to the new constitution. President Perak Amateur Football Association 1950 and Perak Library 1952-55. President Perak Council of State 1948/57; State leader National Association of Perak, Leader of the Rulers’ delegation in the Merdeka mission to London.
