An Article From The Cold Storage Company Social And Sports Magazine - Ipoh Development - Bakery And Supermarket
This article was published in Cold Storage Group of Companies’ Social and Sports Scrapbook in the year 1960. It introduces the new Bakery and Supermarket in Ipoh: The Bakery opened in Ipoh on 1st October 1959, the fourth to be part of the company. It has a capacity of 5,000 pounds of bread daily together with confectionery. Mr Khoo Cheng Peow, formerly bakery foreman in Penang, has been appointed manager of the new project.
The new Ipoh Supermarket opened on 1st September 1960. It is adjoined by a small milk bar that is proving most popular.
The photographs show the bakery's mixing room, cutting table and oven offloading table (top and centre left). Centre right is Mr Khoo Cheng Peow, the manager, while at the bottom is a picture of the crowded shelves of the supermarket.
