Remark :

This photograph shows Pengkalan Pegoh, the first British station in Kinta. It was from here that Kinta was administered (at District level) by a magistrate stationed there, with a handful of European officers in collaboration with the 'native' chiefs. Their main concern was to encourage the return of the Chinese miners, by establishing conditions in which mining could be carried out.
