Boxing - A Triple Main Event
This double sided (English / Chinese) handbill promotes three main boxing matches at Sin Thien Tse Amusement Park, Ipoh on Thursday 12th November 2602, 9pm (Nippon Time) which translates from the Japanese date/time as 7pm 12th November 1942. This was of course during the Japanese occupation of Malaya. We believe that Sin Thien Tse is a poor spelling of the Chinese Sin Tian Di which means New Heaven and Earth (equals world) and which was the new Japanese era name for Jubilee Park.
The evening is billed as
BOXING ON THE PERAK FROLIC FRONT
1st MAIN EVENT 10-2 minute rounds
Kid Pancho ( Phillipino)
Vs
A Jeyamoney (Indian)
2nd MAIN TUSSLE 10-2 minute rounds
Cleave Brown (Syonan to Indian) Vs Little Sencio (Penang - Philipino)
3rd MAIN STRUGGLE 10-2 minute rounds
Johnny Chan (Syonan to Chinese) Vs Smiling Castilo (Penang - Philipino)
Admission ranged from 80 cents for the ringside to 20 cents for gentlemen entering by the main gate and viewing the fights from the grounds. Admission for the Ladies via the main gate was free.
This was the second time that Kid Pancho and Jeyamoney had met in the ring this year and on this occasion it is recorded that although Jeyamoney floored Kid Pancho twice, the first time in the second round, he failed to follow up his advantage. Kid Pancho was awarded the contest.
