Newspaper Banner - The Yamato News (Approved By The Nipponese Authorities)
The Yamato News was one of two "important" papers produced in Ipoh by the Japanese during their occuopation of Malaya. The other was the Perak Shimbun. Both were printed in the offices of what had been the offices of the Malaya Tribune and its editor Victor Morais. They were nothing but propaganda in support of the Japanese aggressors.
During the Japanese invasion and subsequent occupation, the Tribune's office was bombed and then taken over by the Japanese to print the two papers appointing Victor Morais to be the editor.
The scan shows the newspaper's banner for the paper on Friday 13th February 2404 (1942). It costs 5 cents.
