The Malaya Cup Finals' Teams
On 19 October 1957, the Perak football team won the Malaya Cup when they beat defending champions Selangor. The finals, played at Merdeka Stadium, also had its first Malay referee - Mansor bin Haji Abu Bakar, a clerk from the Penang Postal Department. Incidentally, the first Malaya Cup match was in 1921.
The team on the left is the Perak team, while on the right is the Selangor team. We believe the man standing in the centre (wearing a whistle) is Mansor bin Haji Abu Bakar (the referee).
