Remark :

Hornby Railways remains the leading brand of model railway in the United Kingdom. Its roots date back to 1901, when founder Frank Hornby received a patent for his Meccano construction toy. In 1920 he introduced the first Hornby Train. Immediately popular with both young and old, several advancements were made until 1939 and the start of the war prevented further Hornby developments. Most Hornby Trains therefore became unavailable in the early 40s. From 1945 to 1947 limited production started and this set is from that period. This information is taken from the Hornby Railway Collectors Association.

A tinplate clockwork train set like this was the dream of every young English boy after the war and for those who were lucky enough to own one it was a treasured possession. The set contains a locomotive, tender, two trucks and an oval of track complete with original track clips and the locomotive key. It is housed in its original box size 30cmX30cmX10cm. It was manufactured in Liverpool, England.
