Rex Panorama No.11 (Set 2) - Old Town, Ipoh (Junction Of Hill Street, Lahat Road & Belfield Street), Showing The E W Birch Memorial Fountain
This Panoramic photograph by Rex Photo Studio, shows the E W Birch Fountain in Belfield Street in front of the imposing row of three-storey shophouses. The all- marble fountain at the southern end of Belfield Street, was erected by the Ipoh Chinese business community, in respect for E W Birch, British Resident of Perak from 1905-1910 and son of the assassinated J W W Birch.
To the right of the picture is Hill Street leading to Club Road and to the left is the start of Lahat Road. At the right side of the picture in Hill Street is a bicycle shop named Xin Yu, advertising Dunlop tyres and outside the shop there are bicycles and a trishaw.
