Remark :

Being one of the main players in the weightlifting and bodybuilding field in Perak, the association organized a number of bodybuilding competitions notably, Mr. Perak 1974. Apart from bodybuilding and weightlifting, the association also had its own Lion Dance troupe which is still active today. At its peak in the 70s and 80s, the association had over 1000 registered members.

The association of course did not start off where it is located today which is along Cockman Street (Jalan Dato Onn Jaafar). Construction of the current building began in 1969 and was completed in 1974 where it was officiated by Dato Chong Kok Lim and Dato Chong Wai Weng. A souvenir book was published in 1976 with addressing notes from the late Sultan of Perak, Sultan Idris Shah and also the then Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Sri Mohamad Ghazali Bin Jawi congratulating the association on its 50th anniversary.

Over the years the association has received contributions from a number of individuals most notably Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lee Loy Seng, Dato Seri Lau Pak Khuan, Dato’ Chong Kok Lim, and Dr. Ho Kai Cheong, just to name a few.

The association no longer goes under the name of P.P.W.L & B.B.A as a regulation from the registrar of societies’ states the association would have to be registered under a new name or else they would have to cease all lion dance activities. As of 30th of April 2015, the club was to be called the Wushu Club of Luo Han Duan.

Today, the main activities of the club mainly involves their Lion Dance troupe and a bit of table tennis, a while back however senior members of the association were conducting Tae Kwon Do and Karate classes but these have not continued since.
