Remark : A page taken from Dato Seri Yuen Yuet Leng’s album of 5 photos about the execution of DCM Liam Sung, the Ayer Kala ambush attempt and a major ambush in South Thailand.

Yuen records that it was a joint decision by Ko Lo Thin and Chin Peng to execute DCM Liam Sung (who was also a secret agent of the Special Branch Unit) together with another SB Operative for their involvement in the elimination of 'ranking CTs' in the deep jungle. Both were strangled to death in 1954. Subsequently Yuen joined forces with a special group of SEPs to track the killers, but their effors turned out to be unsuccessful.

In September 1954, there was an ambush attempt on Yuen near Ayer Kala with the wrong vehicle being hit. Yuen escaped the incident but the driver of the said vehicle suffered injuries. The CT unit Commander withdrew to the border but sometime later surrendered and joined the Special Branch.

In 1968, C/Cpl Choo Chan, together with two other SB officers were killed in a major ambush in South Thailand. One of them was the former CT Unit Commander who had surrendered earlier.

The photographs show, clockwise from top left: SCM Ko Lo Thin, DCM Yau Kwan Looi, the area where the Ayer Kala ambush took place, CT Nurse Siew Wah and CT Cheong Kau.
