Remark : From left to right the photographs show:

  • Two Air Despatch crewmen sitting on the crates and chatting while flying to Drop No 6. It was a long flight and there were many things to share.

  • The crew helping to look for the drop zone: the drop zone or DZ is the location where the supplies are expected to land. The first sighting was of a Helium filled balloon above the trees followed by a check on the markers on the ground to make sure we are the right target. Smoke bombs would then indicate the wind direction for the drop so that the supplies would not be blown away from the designated area.

  • Amidst the thick rainforest the drop zone is in view. The drop zone in the picture is Foxtrot 2
