Remark : From left to right the photographs show:

  • The pack is on the despatch board: it is a piece of wood placed on runners to enable the ejecting of supplies from the aircraft quicker. The aircraft is circling the DZ while awaiting the signal to drop the supplies.

  • The green light goes on and the pilot presses the bell to indicate drop time. The board is then lifted to eject the supplies.

  • The supply pack is ejected to the waiting troops below. There are two types of parachutes the “R” round type for heavy loads and the “K” oblong type for light loads.
