The panorama shows Yau Tet Shin Street, named after Towkay Yau Tet Shin. Yau Tet Shin was a miner who, after amassing a great fortune in mining, was responsible for building Ipoh New Town. Along with the many rows of shop houses, he also built the New Town Market, a mandarin school and the Birch Bridge (which is at one end of Brewster Road). On the right of the picture is Tai Wah General Merchants; next to it is the Rex Photo Studio.
