Press Cutting - The Malaya Tribune – Food Prices For Malaya
This article reports on the food prices in Singapore and Malaya were announced by a proclamation on September 24 1945. The cost of vegetables in Singapore remained the same but the prices of sugar and fish were higher than before the war. The price of rice is not yet fixed. It was not possible to get the prices back to normal explained by the Food Controller Malaya as there was a shortage of food and a great deal of work has to be done before conditions are substantially improved.
