Remark :

A search for “Leong Fee” on this database will reward the reader with a galaxy of information about the man himself and many of his descendants. For almost all this information and contacts we are indebted to Sybil de Roquigny (pictured); She is better known in Ipoh as Sybil Wong Sui Mei, her maiden name, one of the great granddaughters of Leong Fee, granddaughter of his first son Leong Eng Khean and his second wife Chow Yoon Soo, and the first daughter of Margaret and Michael Wong.

Sybil was born in Ipoh and attended the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (Main Convent) before completing her education in England. On return she joined BOAC ground staff in Kuala Lumpur (KL) and may also be seen in that role in this database. At one time she envisioned marrying an Englishman, but along came a handsome Frenchman, Phillipe and now with two sons, both grown up and having flown the family nest, she lives happily with her husband in Paris, who has patiently scanned all her photographs for us. Sybil returns to KL from time to time to visit her mother.

She is pictured here dressed ready to attend a Paris wedding. We just love her hat!

The second photograph is that of Sybil celebrating her 5th birthday with tins of biscuits and a small electric iron.
