A Rattan Opium Pillow

Thumbnail :

Subject :A Rattan Opium Pillow
Published By : None
Location : Ipoh
Estimated Year : 1980
Media Type : Artifact
Source : Ian Anderson / Kinta Properties Group
Remark :

Although known as opium pillows items such as these were also used as "under-the-neck" ladies sleeping pillows, to protect their exotic hairstyles. The condition of this example which measures 31.5x14x10cm, is such that it probably never got near the slightest whiff of opium, but still today such items are generally known for their long association with opium smokers.

There are other such pillows in our collection.
