The MGS Singout (1) - Articles
These articles talk about the 'Great Singout' - a two-part programme consisting of a choral section and a fashion show. Organised by the Methodist Girls' School (MGS) Ipoh, this charity event was in aid of the school's building fund. Besides MGS, students from other schools around Ipoh also took part, namely: HIJ Convent (now Main Convent), St Michael's Institution (SMI), Anglo-Chinese School (ACS), and Anderson School. This choral festival and fashion show took place at the St. John Ambulance Association Hall, Anderson Road, on two consecutive evenings in March 1968. Ipoh Remembered attended on 8 March.
The first audio file is the speech given by Ruth Ho - the Principal. Our donor also informed us that Ruth Ho passed away in Hawaii, back in 2015.
The second audio file is of Eddy Chin (one of the soloists at the Singout), singing "O Holy Night". The song may not be part of the Singout; however, this audio showcases the singer's talent. We thank SK for this audio file.
