A Parade In Support Of The Kuo Min Tang (Kuomintang) Constitution For The Republic Of China
A collection of photographs showing the parade in Ipoh believed to have taken place in 1948 to celebrate the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of China by the Kuomintang. As the leader of the Kuomintang Generalisimmo Chiang Kai Shek is pictured on the top of the archway in Brewster Road adjacent to the bridge, Ipoh Motors Ltd and Borneo Motors Ltd. The parade was jointly sponsored by the Chinese Assembly Hall Membership and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Hundreds of spectators lined the streets to watch the parade which featured all the local Chinese organisations and schools. The picture on the left shows the Kuomintang flag being carried at the head of this group of supporters.
Another archway was erected in Hugh Low Street, as part of the celebrations.
