Remark :

These two photographs show Mrs Florence Kesselring, Methodist Bishop Robert F Lundy and the Reverend Kenneth Jellappah on Saturday 7th May 1966 taking part in the service where Mrs Kesselring unveiled the foundation stone for the new Kesselring Memorial Hall. The hall was dedicated to the memory of her late husband Ralph Kesselring who had passed away the same year.

This was an unusual foundation stone occasion as the plot and foundations of the building had not yet been prepared, but as Mrs Kesselring had to return to USA it was decided that she should unveil the stone which would be put in place later.

Ralph Kesselring was a well known Missionary and one of the Principals of Anglo-Chinese School(ACS), Ipoh.

The Memorial Hall was part of the Canning Garden Methodist Church (CGMC) project which began in 1963. In October 1964, the church bought a piece of land in Canning Garden. The new ACS Primary Branch School (later known as the Ho Seng Ong Methodist School) was built. Canning Garden services were held in the school in November 1964 which led to the proposal for a Hall on the site for which the above foundation stone was destined and which was built soon after.

On 26th February 1967, the church decided to declare the Canning Garden congregation an independent local church and so, on 27th April 1967, the Canning Garden Methodist Church was born.
