Remark : This picture shows Swettenham's barge beached alongside the Perak river at Blanja. The barge is built with an atap roof. In the picture can be seen Frank Athelstane Swettenham on the left and to his left, Kassim. Next there is their cook and on the far right is J W W Birch, the first British Resident of Perak, assassinated by the Malays in 1875. There remaining figures are those of the crew.
