NTPS (Tamil) Methodist School, Tamil Settlement, Ipoh - An Invitation To Fourth Year Parents' Day
This double sided document is an invitation to parents of fourth year to attend the Parents' Day concert on 3rd December 1964. It is written in both English and Tamil. The gathering was presided over by Rev Ralph Kesselring who at the time was the District Superintendent Metodist Church, Perak. He had previously been the Principal of Anglo-Chinese School, Ipoh, for three separate appointments, the first in 1939.
After the National Anthem, the Wecome Address was given by the Reverend K Barnabus, Head Teacher, who then called on Reverend Ralph Kesselring to deliver the President's speech. This was followed by a speech from Mr K Pandian, Chairman of the Board of Managers.
The entertainment programme by the teachers and pupils then began and included dances, sketches, action songs (in both Tamil and the National Language)and other songs. The highlights were the traditional dances of the Kummi (a simple folk dance where dancers form circles and clap in rhythmic way) and Kolattam or the stick dance (which is one of the most popular dances of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu). These are normally danced at important festivals.
The final speech of the day was given in the National language by Mr P S Govindan, after which a prize Giving ceremony took place with Rev K Barnabus officiating. Then followed the Finale.
