Anderson School, Ipoh - The Maxwell Road Building (Formerly Masonic Lodge Angus)
This photograph shows the first custom built, Masonic Lodge at Maxwell Road, Ipoh which was used temporarily by Anderson School for Primary Standard One and Two classes when their first premises at Douglas Road became overcrowded. Classes were run under the leadership of Mr Dayal Singh, before the completion of the new building in 1931 when both Maxwell Road and Douglas Road students moved into the grand new premises at Ashby Road.
This was the third premises for the Kinta Masonic Lodge (designed and supervised by architect C H Labrooy with assistance from Lodge members) which had previously been housed in a shophouse at 2 Hugh Low Street (from 6 April 1907 to 1908) and 5 Hale Street (1908 to 1911).
