Tin Dredging Operations- Step 005 – More Washing The Material With Primary Jigs And Pulsator Pumps
The fifth stage of the operation of dredging for tin is shown in the photograph.
Material from the revolving screen flows along the distribution chutes and is evenly distributed amongst the primary jigs arranged in pairs, back to back. Here, with the combination of water and the suck/blow operation of the pulsators, most of the remaining, pebbles, sand and dirt are washed away leaving the tin ore behind which is drawn, by the pumps, through the holes in the jig screens and flows into the sump below. The pulsator pumps (jig diaphragms) can be seen in the photograph at the side of the jig.
