Sketches – Scenes From Old Pictures, Part 1
This is the first part of a series of six sketches, done by an artist who signs off as Amiruddin. The sketches were done around the year 1997/98. These two pictures show a contrast in the living styles of Ipoh folks.
The picture on the left is of Ipoh Town, showing the Ipoh Club Padang with the buildings (along Hale Street) in the background. The rickshaw (bottom, right) is travelling along Douglas Road. Douglas Road linked Clayton Road and Anderson Road.
The picture on the right is of a kampong house in a village. This village was probably by the banks of the Kinta River – hence the contrast; town folks and village folks.
